Cravings are Real
Yes as most who have been pregnant before can testify, pregnancy cravings are real and undeniable. Now science is backing it up with help from the common fruit fly!
Portuguese scientist, Dr Carlos Ribeiro, says “Nutrition is a highly complex topic. To understand how the brain regulates nutrient intake, you need to work in an organism that gives you access to a lot of diverse technologies. In that respect, the fruit fly is unbeatable.”
Studies of fruit flies show salt cravings in mated fruit flies similar to those in mammals. This suggests the existence of underlying biological principals across the species.
