Your first visit

Dr Allen is particularly thorough and likes to see you from about 8 weeks or earlier if you have any special medical issues.

You will need a referral letter from your GP.  If your doctor has sent this referral to us prior to your appointment, please call us on (07) 30105777 to ensure we have received it.

Please bring along any results or reports you may have, including x-ray and ultrasound scans relevant to your pregnancy or general health.

This initial consultation will take approximately forty-five minutes. During this time, Dr Allen will conduct a physical examination and perform an ultrasound of your baby. Dr Allen will scan your baby at every antenatal appointment. You are referred to expert specialists for your Nuchal Translucency Screening Test (12 weeks) & Morphology Ultrasound (19 weeks).

There is plenty of opportunity at this first appointment to have your questions answered and raise any concerns you may have. Your partner or support person is welcome to attend any visit. New grandparents-to-be are often particularly thrilled to witness the new technological images now available.

Subsequent visits are approximately 15 minutes.  These visits will be scheduled as follows:

  • Monthly up to 28 weeks;
  • Fortnightly up to 36 weeks, and then
  • Weekly until delivery.

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if cancelling or changing an appointment.

While we always aim to run on time, sometimes emergencies can push appointments back a little. Babies don’t always arrive conveniently! We appreciate your patience.

Please download and complete the new patient information form and bring it with to your first appointment. Please try and arrive 10 minutes early for your first appointment so that we can complete any necessary paperwork.
